Organizational Matters

We would be happy to arrange an appointment for an initial consultation with you to discuss your concerns and the treatment options available in our outpatient clinic.

Treatment Costs

The costs of neuropsychological treatment are generally covered by health insurance. If you have private or subsidized insurance, you should contact your insurance company in advance to find out whether the costs will be covered.

Please Bring Along

  • Health insurance card
  • Referral with confirmed neurological diagnosis, if available
  • Previous findings, especially from acute clinics, rehabilitation clinics, ophthalmologists, radiologists, as well as a current medication plan
  • Please remember to bring hearing and visual aids if necessary

Canceling Appointments

The demand for neuropsychological treatment is high and the number of treatment slots is limited. If you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, please cancel as early as possible, at the latest 24 hours in advance. To do so, call 0521-106 866 00 during office hours or send an email to neuropabi@uni-bielefeld.de.

More detailed information about keeping scheduled therapy appointments will be provided at the start of treatment.

Waiting Times

Waiting times can vary greatly depending on our current capacities and the specific research and teaching therapy projects underway. You will receive more detailed information during your initial consultation.

Your time flexibility in scheduling also has an impact on the waiting time.

We are legally obligated to maintain confidentiality regarding treatment conditions. Information may only be disclosed on to third parties - with the exception of NeuroPABi employees - with your explicit written consent.

For research purposes, your data will be used exclusively in anonymized form. Please use the initial consultation to ask any questions you may have about how patient data is handled.

To ensure the quality of diagnostics and therapy, we kindly ask you to complete questionnaires at the beginning, during and at the end of your therapy. Further follow-up assessments take place six months and one year after completion of the therapy in order to assess the long-term effectiveness of the treatment.

In regular team meetings, our experienced specialists reflect on the progress and success of your treatment. They will decide together whether and for how long the treatment should be continued in order to offer you the best possible support.

Your therapy sessions are recorded on video to support the preparation and follow-up of sessions as well as supervision. The recordings will of course be deleted after a few weeks. In exceptional cases, for example in longer-term research projects, your additional consent is required for extended storage of the recordings.
